Roman Kowalysko, 30 years old, currently resides in Shaker Heights, Ohio.  He grew up in both Shaker and Russell Township, and also spent time in University Circle and Chicago. He graduated from Hawken School in 2011 and went to Case Western Reserve University. From Case Western Reserve University, he obtained an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering & Masters of Supply Chain Management. Roman currently works as a pricing analyst for Pipeline Packaging. Before, he was an associate consultant for INSIGHT2PROFIT.

Roman learned how to play chess from Mike Joelson (PWC CEO!) at a chess camp when he was 7 years old. Soon after in his middle school and high school days, he learned a lot of his chess foundation from a local master named Alex Kitsis. Roman plays at chess tournaments, teaches chess to a younger audience, and directs chess tournaments! Besides chess, Roman enjoys board games, functional fitness classes, reading about history, and practicing the piano. Roman has been actively teaching classes for ProgressWithChess since 2021, but has been involved with the organization for several years prior. Over the past 10 years, Roman worked with many local chess organizations, such as Vivacity, Your Next Move, Cleveland Chess Club, CWRU Chess Club, and taught private chess lessons.

Accomplishments:

-Undergraduate Degree in Chemical Engineering & Masters of Supply Chain Management

-President of CWRU Chess Club (During his time; You can find him playing the Sunday Chess Club at the nearby Panera!)

-Obtained the title of United States National Chess Master in 2022

-A published chess game (from the 2021 US Open) on a magazine
