Employment Now Hiring for the 2024-2025 School Year

Progress with Chess, Ohio’s largest chess teaching organization, is seeking additional chess instructors for in person chess instruction to start immediately or in the Fall of 2023. We are a non-profit organization that provides chess programs in over 50 schools and recreation centers in greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. 

Orientation and teaching supplies are provided. New teachers typically work less than five hours per week. Additional hours are available for more experienced instructors who are committed to teaching chess as their primary income source.  Qualifying is simple.  Applicants should:

  •       be available during after school hours on the days they wish to work
  •       possess reliable transportation
  •       pass a criminal background check
  •       have a moderate level of chess understanding
  •       be reliable and punctual!   
  •       excellent communication skills
  •       professional appearance

Instructors are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner with students and administrators. Classroom skills are a plus, patience and enjoyment of children is essential.

AFTER SCHOOL CHESS INSTRUCTOR 

Teach kids chess in after school programs in Greater Cleveland.  A minimum of two classes or more is preferred. Classes are a minimum of a 90 minute commitment.  This is a contract position.  PWC will provide you with a demo board, sets and chess teaching materials.

 

Administrative Assistant Position:

Progress with Chess is seeking an administrative assistant, either full or part-time to help with customer service, management of programs, marketing and clerical duties such as updating spreadsheets, creating flyers, completing forms, etc. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and a passion for our mission.

 The following qualifications are preferred but not mandatory: 

·     Chess teaching and or tournament directing experience

·     Knowledge of PWC after school programs, camps and tournaments

·     Ability to work effectively in Excel, Word, Adobe

·     Basic knowledge of websites using WordPress
