500+ Cleveland Metropolitan School District students from 10-15 schools compete in a chess tournament and have the opportunity to compete against their peers, challenge police officers, and play against celebrity guests.

Students from participating schools have received 20 weeks of chess instruction from Progress with Chess, a Cleveland area non-profit organization, dedicated to improving the lives of youth through chess.

Progress with Chess, The Cleveland Public Library, The Cleveland Metropolitan Schools, The Black Shield, and the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association provide essential staffing, goods and services to make this event possible.

We welcome administrators, youth program directors, educators, grant managers, media representatives and celebrity guests to attend.
