Instructions to Play

There are a few things you need to know:

-There is no Zoom or cameras for this tournament.
-If you do not have a lichess account, you need to create a free account at https://lichess.org
-We recommend using Google Chrome as your browser.  If you are using a tablet, open lichess.org in the browser (do not use the lichess app).

-Join your section before 3:45 PM EDT. Round 1 starts at exactly 4:00 pm EDT.
-Full instructions to join the tournament are below.  
-The tournament is at 4:00 PM on Eastern Daylight Savings Time.

INSTRUCTIONS TO JOIN THE TOURNAMENT

Step 1:
Log into your lichess account:
Enter your lichess user name and password on lichess.org.  If you see your user name in the upper right corner then you are now logged in.  If you do not have an account you will need to create a free account at lichess.org.

Step 2:
Click on the Team link:
https://lichess.org/team/free-election-scholastic

Step 3:
Click on YOUR SECTION based on your grade located next to the rabbit icon.  If needed, click the green JOIN BUTTON once again. Enter the password you received by email.

Step 4:
Once you see your username in the player list you are all set!
Where the JOIN button was it will now say “Withdraw”.

Your first game will begin at exactly 4:00 PM EDT.
Your next game will be paired ASAP!  There are no rounds, instead you will play nonstop games and collect as many points as you can in 90 minutes.

Computer Assistance: Assistance from chess playing engines and software is against the rules and will not be tolerated. Any player who uses such assistance will have their Lichess account flagged, will not receive prizes, and will be banned from Progress with Chess tournaments.
