K-5 Championship
K-3 Primary Championship 
K-5 Premier (U-800)
4-5 Reserve (4-5 U-500)
K-3 Primary Reserve ( U-500)

What Section should you choose?  


First time and low rated players should choose K-3 Primary Reserve or 4-5 Reserve.
K-3 stands for Kindergarten through 3rd grade
4-5 stands for 4th and 5th grade
Championship sections are for the most experienced tournament players
U-800 stands for under 800 USCF
U-500 stands for under 500 USCF (first time and unrated players should choose this)
USCF stands for US Chess Federation
A chess rating is a number that reflects a player’s skill level




Individual Competition

Any student enrolled in an Ohio school, or home schooled in Ohio in grades K-6 is eligible to participate. Players may request one half point bye for any round except round 5, must commit before round 2 pairings. Unrated players may play in any section. We recommended choosing the lowest rated section. Recording of moves is required only in the Championship Sections.

Team Competition
Two or more players enrolled in the same school in the same section will be eligible for a team prize. Team scores will be calculated by adding the points accumulated by its four top scoring players in the section.

USCF Memberships
All Sections are USCF rated – – Registration fee includes a one-year USCF membership for all new players or players with expired memberships!

Awards
Trophies will be awarded to all players scoring 3.5 and higher. Team trophies will be given to the top 5 teams in each section, except top 3 in Grade 6 sections. All will receive medals!

Equipment
Boards and Sets will be provided and clocks for the Championship Sections. Clocks will be used at the start of games in other sections only if provided by either player. The tournament director may place a clock on a game in progress to ensure timely completion.

Entry Fees and Registration
Entry Fee $39 by March11, $44 after. No on site registrations accepted. A limited number of reduced entry fees are available for low income students, please call 216-321-7000 to apply.
