Camps are conducted by the experienced staff of Progress with Chess, provider of after school programs at over 50 Northeast Ohio locations. Players of all levels, from beginner to advanced, will receive plenty of individual attention in small groups of six, divided by age and skill level. About Summer Chess Camp

Summer is here and we are thrilled to announce our safe and socially distanced online summer chess camps! These camps are designed for all skill levels and include a structured and diverse schedule to keep things interesting and fun!

The benefits of chess are many and it is not too late to join in the chess lessons, problem solving, logic building or the fun! In fact, the early bird rates still apply to many camps to there is plenty of time to sign up today.

Beginner & Novice

Don’t know how the pieces move? No problem. In fact, this summer is a great time to learn the amazing game of chess and enjoy its many benefits. Progress With Chess is equipped with seasoned chess instructors from our 50+ after school programs and we specialize in teaching kids the many rules of chess. Your child will learn how the pieces move, check, checkmate, stalemate, captures, promotion, en passant and the beginnings of chess strategy. Everything they will need to play a legal game of chess!

Intermediate & Advanced

Ready to advance your knowledge? Strategic play and problem solving skills are highlighted in our higher level chess camp for more seasoned campers. Chess camp is a great way to boost your chess skills and your rating in a short time! Camp includes actual USCF rated tournament play and game analysis so you can learn from your mistakes and improve for the next game. Don’t let your peers pass you by. Join today!

9:00-9:45: Chess Lesson, Understanding the Rules
9:45-10:30: Supervised Open Play
10:30-10:45: Bathroom and Snack Break
10:45-11:15: Castling-Basic Checkmates and Principals, Piece Values
11:15-12:00: Open Play, Fun Activities Chess, Variants, Simuls, Problem Solving

Intermediate-Advanced Schedule of Activities

1:00-1:30: Group Puzzle Solving or Puzzle Battle
1:30-2:15: Interactive Chess Lecture or Analysis of Tournament Games
2:15-2:30: Bathroom and Snack Break
2:30-4:00: USCF Rated Online Tournament Monday, Wednesday & Friday
2:30-4:00: Fun Activities, Chess Variants and Simuls, Tuesday and Thursday
