Taylor Shockey Bios

Taylor Shockey

In addition to teaching chess, Taylor works in finance at an undisclosed financial firm in downtown Cleveland, OH.
Â
He attended both The University of Colorado at Boulder and John Carroll University where he studied economics, computer science, and philosophy.Â
Â
During his free time, Taylor likes to go for long runs, play indie games, and attend events all over Cleveland with his friends. He is an avid cyclist and has completed two major continental tours – a 3,000 mile tour of the United States and a 2,800 mile tour of Europe. He is a dabbling photographer and a self-described “Photoshop wizard”. Most notably, his artwork has been featured internationally on the cover of the 2006 jazz album, Stone Blossom. He is musically inclined, and has been playing the electric guitar for well over a decade. He has worked as a club DJ, been certified as a Pro Tools audio technician, and self-published his own ukulele songbook. He enjoys the simple exhaustion that comes from a full day of manual labor, has worked construction and occasionally chops down trees for his neighbors just for fun. He has two brothers, and is a proud native Clevelander.
