Originally from El Cajon, California, Tom has been teaching for ProgressWithChess since 2017. His father taught him how to play chess at the age of seven, and he still plays regularly online through lichess.org. Tom’s other favorite pastimes include books, movies, baseball, and traveling. A graduate of San Diego State University, Tom is an accomplished marketing writer — for instance, he created the “Snap Into a Slim Jim” campaign. Tom is married and has two grown daughters.
