2026 Presidential Pawn Storm
February 16, 2026 – Our annual USCF Rated scholastic tournament on President’s Day at the Solon Community Center in Solon, OH – free pizza lunch included!
2026 Cardinal Open
January 30-Feb 1, 2026 – Hosted at the Doubletree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn, this annual Classical Ohio tournament featured GM Sam Khanin and GM Jianchao Zhou in 2026 – $10,000 prize fund based on 140 paid entries.
2025-2026 GCSCL #3 - Solon
January 17, 2026 – Hosted at Solon Middle School, the third event of our annual Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League: one of the largest scholastic chess leagues in the Midwest, with 9 sections for student players of all skill levels. Cleveland Charge Chess Day
January 2, 2026 – Hosted at the iconic Public Hall Auditorium in collaboration with Discovery Chess and the Cleveland Charge, this tournament featured both open and scholastic sections and included admission to the Cleveland Charge basketball game. Scholastic players received trophies, $1,000 guaranteed prize fund allocated to the open sections!

December 6, 2025 – Hosted at Westlake High School, the second event of our annual Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League: one of the largest scholastic chess leagues in the Midwest, with 9 sections for student players of all skill levels. The Third Annual Cranberry Classic
November 29, 2025 – Rapid USCF tournament at the Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted, OH, open to adults and scholastic players – $1200 prize fund!
Solon Yam Slam
November 28, 2025 – Hosted at the Solon Community Center, our “Holiday Scholastic” format joins the Thanksgiving season! USCF Rated G/30;d5, trophies for the top players and pizza and drink included for all participants and their families!
2025-2026 GCSCL #1 - Solon
October 25, 2025 – The first event of our annual Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League: one of the largest scholastic chess leagues in the Midwest, with 9 sections for student players of all skill levels. Next event will be in Westlake, on December 6th!
4th East Side Open
September 27, 2025 – Our semiannual free community chess tournament hosted in partnership with the East Cleveland Public Library – lunch provided for all participants, $500 in prizes awarded to the top players!
5th Annual Joe Yun Memorial
August 8-10, 2025 – Our Annual Classical chess tournament hosted in honor of longtime Progress With Chess Tournament Director and Board Member, NTD Joe Yun.
Great Northern Classic
August 2, 2025 – Rapid USCF tournament at the Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted, OH, open to adults and scholastic players – $1000 prize fund!

2025 Lakewood Scholastic Skewer
June 28, 2025 – 2nd Annual summer scholastic tournament hosted at Harding Middle School in partnership with the Lakewood Department of Recreation.
Check On Your Mate - Scholastic Tournament
June 23, 2025 – Part of our first ever chess festival which featured a variety of activities, free for all participants, hosted in partnership with For Art’s Sake and Steven Kwan.
2025 Cleveland Catholic Schools Chess Tournament
April 12, 2025 – Our second annual Cleveland Catholic Schools Chess Tournament, hosted in partnership with St. Ignatius High School.
2025 Northeast Ohio Scholastic Championship
March 17, 2025 – Sponsored by and hosted in partnership with the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent De Paul School, this first annual event awarded students $1500 in scholarship prizes, attracting top players from across the state.

Our annual Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League – one of the largest scholastic chess leagues in the Midwest, with 8 sections for student players of all skill levels – $1500 in scholarship prizes awarded.
