Chess was in full swing as 26 players participated in the Scholastic Showdown USCF rated online chess tournament on Saturday, Oct. 17. The event, our monthly online event for scholastic players, was held on Lichess.org. Out of the 26 players, nine came from out of state, and seven were unrated.
Congratulations to Daniel Videna of Santa Rosa, CA who took first in the Open Section with a rating of 1208. Atman Palaniswamy of Lewis Center, OH won the U1000 Section and Isaac Draper of Marion, OH won the U500 section. The tournament has been USCF rated. For full results CLICK HERE.
The tournament was rated under the United States Chess Federation (USCF) Online Standard system and did not affect over the board ratings.
“These scholastic events are great for both new and experienced players,” said Michael Joelson, Progress with Chess President/CEO. Progress with Chess provides USCF memberships for new players.
Our next scholastic event will be the first of four Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League (GCSCL) tournaments on Saturday, Nov. 14. $1,500 in scholarship money is on the line as well as team trophies! See the flyer here for details.
